Alexander A. Bibeau, senior materials scientist at Solo Cup Co., died of pancreatic cancer Feb. 20 at his Owings Mills home. He was 65.

Mr. Bibeau was born and raised in Holyoke, Mass., and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1966 from the University of Hartford in Connecticut while employed as a research chemist for Monsanto Chemical Co. He earned a master’s degree in chemistry from what is now Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y.

He worked in the medical products division of Union Carbide Corp. in Tarrytown, N.Y., from 1975 to 1981, when he joined Sweetheart Cup Co. in Wilmington, Mass. In 1991, he was transferred to the Owings Mills plant of the company, which was acquired by Solo Cup in 2003.

Mr. Bibeau enjoyed home-improvement projects, reading and relaxing with family and friends around the pool at his home.

“He enjoyed shopping for the newest power tools for his workroom and loved to brag that he never had to call a repairman,” said his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years, the former Kathleen Kennedy.

At his request, there were no services.

Survivors also include three sons, Alan R. Bibeau of Rutherford, N.J., Richard S. Bibeau of Derry, N.H., and Kevin D. Bibeau of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Donat Bibeau and Frederick Bibeau, both of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister, Claire Thibeault of Vero Beach; and seven grandchildren.
